Some workplaces are essential, and can not afford to undergo prolonged closure or lockdowns. The challenge, however, for employers and health care experts, is how to protect workers in those environments from occupation-related exposure to viruses such as COVID-19. The use of HOCL disinfectant, in combination with smart technologies, may be instrumental in preventing a workforce from contracting or spreading these viruses.
Commercial and Industrial Workplace Sanitization
Today, in the aftermath of one of the worst global health crises in generations, businesses and industries are turning to innovative ways to keep their workplace safe. The challenge, in essential workplaces is, because of the proximity of workers and workspaces, it’s often hard to maintain social distance constantly. It’s easy, in such environments, for contaminants to pass on from one staff member to another. Electrolyzed water sanitizer has emerged as a breakthrough preventive measure against transmission of viruses and other antigens in the workplace.
The use of Smart Prefabricated Sanitizing Chambers (SPSC) is an ingenuous way to help keep everyone, working in an enclosed environment, safe from the impact of viruses like coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). These chambers, once fully commercialized, will be equipped with special sprayers that disperse aerosolized hypochlorous acid (HOCL) on individuals entering its enclosed space.
HOCL disinfectant, which has been approved as a disinfectant against SARS-CoV-2 by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), has high viricidal and bactericidal efficacy. Studies have proven conclusively that HOCL has higher bactericidal effectiveness than other disinfectants such as sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl). As a result, it is an ideal choice for such applications.
Technique and Technology
The technology is based on an enclosure that has smart sensors and spraying devices located at designated spots. As the employee enters the SPSC, the sensors detect their presence, and spray a solution of Electrolyzed water sanitizer. The solution covers the entire exposed surface of the individual’s body. Although study after study has proven conclusively that HOCL is safe and non-toxic, ideally, target subjects entering the chamber would wear face masks and eye goggles to offer protection to the nose, mouth, and eyes.
As a weak acid, HOCL has powerful capabilities, unmatched by other competing sanitizers and disinfectants, that allows it to interact with the DNA/RNA and other structural proteins of viruses. These include their capsid or surface compounds and lipid envelops. When sprayed onto people (or objects) in the chamber, HOCL disinfectant binds onto viruses and other antigens, to quickly kill or neutralize them. This helps prevent broader transmission of viruses among the workforce, and avoids exposing it into the broader community.
Broader Application
The use of Electrolyzed water sanitizer, in conjunction with SPSCs, has broad-based application. Because of its non-invasive, food-safe, and non-irritant qualities, HOCL-based disinfectants are ideal for workplaces across industries, including Healthcare, Food processing, Restaurants and Hotels, Gyms and fitness centers, Airports, and cruise lines…and many more.
Pet safe. Plant safe. Food safe. Non-corrosive. Non-toxic. Chemical-free. These are HOCL characteristics that few disinfectants share. In fact, one of HOCL’s unique features, which doesn’t require any surface – sprayed by it – to under go an after-rinse process – makes it ideal for wide spread use as a viricidal/bactericidal. Human safe.
